The lap
Hayfield is the developer's own circuit, drawn from a sketch, and it is the longest lap in the game. A one-kilometre main straight runs into a long-radius hairpin at the far end, then a fast back straight with a single kink leads into the infield: a twisting run to a pair of tight hairpins at turns 5 and 6, each eighteen metres across, and four corners home. The road is twenty metres wide on the straights and fifteen in the hairpins, and it barely leans: a flat circuit's road does not bank. Slipstream decides the straights; the infield decides the lap.
Corner by corner
- Start and finish on the kilometre straight.
- The long-radius hairpin at the far end.
- The back straight, with one kink.
- Into the infield, a twisting run.
- Turn 5, the first tight hairpin.
- Turn 6, the second, straight after it.
- Four corners home onto the main straight.
How to drive it
- Sit in the draft down the kilometre straight and pull out late; the long hairpin has room for two cars on entry.
- Treat turns 5 and 6 as one corner: a slow, tidy entry to the first sets up a straight exit from the second.
- A longer lap means fewer of them in a three-minute race. One mistake in the infield can cost a whole lap's worth of places.
Race it
Hayfield Raceway Park unlocks in the career for 18,000 crew cash, earned from race prizes. Once it is yours it can turn up in the championship and in the Daily Challenge, where a wet day means less grip. Your best lap here goes to its own Game Center board, and any lap can be sent to a friend as a ghost.
