The lap

Neon District is the shortest lap in the game and the most committing. It starts between the blocks, runs a boulevard straight, then climbs: a hard right that begins the rise, the flyover over the cross-street, a crest, and a drop straight into a chicane that is the narrowest point on any street circuit. An alley left and a tight back-street 180 bring it home. The walls stay close for the whole lap and the painted kerbs lose their grip in the rain, so the lap is made or lost in the two seconds between the crest and the chicane exit.

Corner by corner

  1. Start and finish between the blocks.
  2. The boulevard straight.
  3. A hard right that begins to climb.
  4. Up the flyover.
  5. The crest over the cross-street. Light, then heavy.
  6. The drop into the chicane, the narrowest point on any street circuit.
  7. Chicane exit, still tight.
  8. The alley left.
  9. The back-street 180 and onto the start straight.

How to drive it

  • Brake on the flyover, before the crest. Braking after it, with the car light, is how the chicane gets you.
  • In the wet, stay off the painted kerbs completely. Neon's kerbs are the slipperiest surface in the game.
  • The 180 is a late-apex corner: go in slow and wide, and get the power down early for the straight.

Race it

Neon District unlocks in the career for 18,000 crew cash, earned from race prizes. Once it is yours it can turn up in the championship and in the Daily Challenge, where a wet day means less grip. Your best lap here goes to its own Game Center board, and any lap can be sent to a friend as a ghost.
