The lap

Sahara Grand is the fast one. An enormous main straight, a banked sweeper, one slow corner, a second long straight and a long banked left: that is the lap, and most of it is taken flat. The slow corner was rebuilt in 2.55 to be a real braking zone, because before that a lap had no braking at all. The road is the widest in the game, twelve and a half metres, so there is room to fight, and the slipstream down the two straights is worth more here than anywhere else. The lap time is set by the exit of the slow corner and by how much draft you can find.

Corner by corner

  1. Start and finish on the enormous main straight.
  2. The banked sweeper, flat in most cars.
  3. The one slow corner, now a real braking zone.
  4. The second long straight.
  5. The long banked left back onto the main straight.

How to drive it

  • Hold the inside of the banking; the sweepers reward a low line with a longer run onto the straights.
  • Brake late for the slow corner but be straight on exit: the whole second straight depends on it.
  • Never lead onto the main straight if you can help it. Sit second, draft, and pass before the banking.

Race it

Sahara Grand unlocks in the career for 32,000 crew cash, earned from race prizes. Once it is yours it can turn up in the championship and in the Daily Challenge, where a wet day means less grip. Your best lap here goes to its own Game Center board, and any lap can be sent to a friend as a ghost.
