The lap
Desert Marina is the wide, modern one: sixteen to twenty-two metres of road with run-off, built for racing side by side. A 920-metre main straight ends in a heavy-braking hairpin, the biggest stop in the game. An infield runs down the east side into the marina's four square corners, then a 650-metre back straight into a hard right and a set of fast esses up the west side home. Two long straights and two heavy stops mean two overtaking places a lap, and the run-off means a mistake costs time rather than the race.
Corner by corner
- Start and finish on the 920-metre main straight.
- The hairpin, a heavy-braking stop at the end of it.
- The infield down the east side.
- The marina's four square corners.
- The 650-metre back straight.
- A hard right at the end of it.
- Fast esses up the west side.
- Onto the main straight.
How to drive it
- Brake at the boards for the hairpin and no later; it is the longest braking zone in the game and the easiest place to lock up.
- The four square corners are a rhythm: the same speed through all four beats a fast first one.
- Use the run-off to learn the esses flat; this is the circuit where a mistake teaches rather than punishes.
Race it
Desert Marina unlocks in the career for 26,000 crew cash, earned from race prizes. Once it is yours it can turn up in the championship and in the Daily Challenge, where a wet day means less grip. Your best lap here goes to its own Game Center board, and any lap can be sent to a friend as a ghost.
