The lap

Grandstand Park is the first circuit every driver races and the one the game teaches with. Two long straights, two banked turns, and nothing hiding in either of them. The banking carries the car round at nearly full throttle, so the lap is about one thing: how late you can lift, and how early you can get back on the power. It is the circuit to switch braking assist off on, and the one to come back to when a new car needs learning.

Corner by corner

  1. Start and finish on the main straight, under the grandstand.
  2. Turn 1, a long banked right. A lift, not a brake, in most cars.
  3. The back straight, the only place a rival can get a clean run on you.
  4. Turn 2, the second banked right, tighter at the exit than the entry.
  5. Back onto the main straight.

How to drive it

  • Stay low on the banking and let it hold the car; running wide costs speed on both straights.
  • Open the throttle before the exit of each turn. The banking forgives an early foot, the straight punishes a late one.
  • Draft on the back straight and make the move into turn 2, where the road narrows and the pass sticks.

Race it

Grandstand Park is open from your first race, and it counts toward your ten free races. Your best lap here goes to its own Game Center board, and any lap can be sent to a friend as a ghost.
