The lap
Midnight Strip is a night street circuit down a neon boulevard. The strip runs north, two right angles take the lap over to the arena, a slow left wraps round it, a chicane drops down the back street and a hairpin at the south end brings the lap back onto the strip. The road is walled, fourteen to twenty metres, and the strip itself is the longest lit straight in the game: the draft there is worth a second a lap. The hairpin at the south end is the overtake, and the slow left round the arena is where places are lost.
Corner by corner
- Start and finish on the strip, heading north.
- Two right angles over to the arena.
- The slow left round the arena.
- The chicane down the back street.
- The hairpin at the south end.
- Back onto the strip.
How to drive it
- Sit in the draft down the strip and pull out for the first right angle, which is wide enough for two.
- The slow left round the arena is a late apex: wide in, tight out, and get the power down for the back street.
- Lamps light the apexes. Aim for the light, and the walls look after themselves.
Race it
Midnight Strip unlocks in the career for 28,000 crew cash, earned from race prizes. Once it is yours it can turn up in the championship and in the Daily Challenge, where a wet day means less grip. Your best lap here goes to its own Game Center board, and any lap can be sent to a friend as a ghost.
